Drepung Gyaepa Khamtsen

Gyaepa or Gyalpa Khamtsen is one of the Khamtsens of Drepung Loseling Monastery, established in Tibet in 1416 and now located in India.

His Holiness Buddha Maitreya visited the Khamtsen in 2000 up to which point it had not received any support or sponsorship. His Holiness pledged funds to support the construction of a residence for the Khamtsen monks, along with an Assembly hall for prayer and study. Additional funding was provided to the Khamtsen to assist with construction work in 2001. In November 2001, His Holiness Buddha Maitreya had the opportunity to view plans for the Assembly hall and committed to funding for the following year.

Since 2000, the Church has sponsored one of the Tulkus of the Monastery, Ngawang Mipham Choe-Ki-Dawa, the Yang-Goen Rinpoche. Yang Goen Tulku was one of the original disciples of Shakyamuni Buddha, with many blessed incarnations including the Master Naropa, Translator Lotsawa Kawa Pekltsek at the time of the Tibetan Dharma King Trisong Detsen and Dorje Wangchuk, one of the chief disciples of the Master Atisha. He is known as an emanation of Lord Maitreya. The Church sponsored the enthronement ceremony of the Ngawang Mipham Choeki-Dawa Rinpoche with additional funds for food and living expenses. This enabled the 19th Yang Goen Rinpoche to be formally enrolled into Drepung Loseling Monastery as a Tulku. Most recently in 2008, the Church sponsored Yang Goen Rinpoche's Geshe Ceremony.
